About me...
I Graduated from Liverpool Hope University in 2004 with a BA Hons in Fine Art with English.
The majority of my recent work has been a combination of abstract paintings and drawings based on random and accidental mark making with more detail added later.
Some of my drawings are based on hanging fabrics and paper constructions, although they appear to resemble plant, animal or insect forms.
The paintings were developed using a different technique. They have layering and a gradual build up of images with flowing and blending of colours.
The paintings and drawings have an ambiguous quality. I feel that the viewer could possibly see a number of images within them, they are open to interpretation.
Influences on my work include Eva Hesse’s sculptures, Andre Masson’s automatic drawings and paintings, Roberto Matta, Mark Tobey, the colour staining technique of Helen Frankenthaler and Ian McKeever’s abstract paintings, amongst others.
I am a member of the Headspace Group based at Eggspace in the Egg Cafe, 16-18 Newington, Liverpool.
